Tobacco is a wonderful drug.
The usual idea that tobacco should be taxed to recover its "real" costs in
health care expenditures is wrong! Tobacco smoking should be
subsidized with free cigarettes.
Smokers typically
provide the economy with a useful working life, and then die before being
able to collect social welfare entitlements and/or pensions.
Tobacco smoking saves the World Economy
Trillions of Dollars
annually in age related health care costs, retirement and pension
entitlements.
Tobacco is also a great
investment for those very same pension funds; make money from
contributions of employees paying in, and from the sale of legal
tobacco products, and then for the icing on the cake: they don't
have to pay
those employees their pensions.
Smokers, however
much we may loathe and resent their disgusting and vulgar habit, are doing
a significant service to society by poisoning themselves in time to
relieve the rest of society from supporting them in their Golden Years:
Dead people don't have
expenses and their environmental impact is minimal compared to the living.
